When a buyer orders a load of hay, he anticipates that all of the hay in the load will be of one uniform grade. Therefore, provisions must be made to separate cuttings and kinds of hay into different areas of the barn. In addition, locate the separate stacks so that earlier cuttings can be loaded out without being obstructed by later cuttings.
If quality varies within a field, some cuttings may even need to be divided, by grades, into sub-stacks, especially if there are differences in the ratio of grass to legume.
