Producers with a moderate volume of hay or straw may simply place ads in area newspapers and list themselves in county hay and straw directories, as well as in the Illinois Department of Agriculture's state-wide Hay and Straw Directory.
Producers with a large volume probably will also need to sell through dealers. In Illinois, a list of hay dealers can be found in the Illinois Hay and Straw Directory.
